WHY I USE BioGenix Stem Cells

BioGenix grew out of the recognition of the important potential of stem cell regenerative medicine in giving hope to patients who suffer from past injuries, chronic conditions, or degenerative disease.  Out of this potential grew the demand for safe, reliable, ethically sound stem cell products - and BioGenix was up to the task.

Working directly with hospitals participating in umbilical cord tissue donation programs and partnering with a trusted, sterile FDA-compliant lab, we turned concept into reality, bringing the BioGenix stem cell product to physicians across medical specialties.

By choosing to use only umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells, we harness the medical advantages of growth-factor rich tissue while circumventing invasive procedures and providing a product that aligns with our ethics.

[ Mesenchymal stem cells are multipotent stromal cells that can differentiate into a variety of cell types, including osteoblasts (bone cells), chondrocytes (cartilage cells), myocytes (muscle cells) and adipocytes (fat cells which give rise to marrow adipose tissue).]

In medicine today, stem cells are derived from four (4) different sources: umbilical cord tissue, embryonic tissue, bone marrow, and adipose (fat) tissue.

However, some sources have their drawbacks.

- Embryonic stem cells raise ethical concerns.
- Bone marrow and adipose (fat) tissue stem cells can only be retrieved through invasive surgical procedures.
- Umbilical cord tissue retrieval, which takes place immediately after the umbilical cord is cut upon delivery, is non-invasive and ethically sound.  In addition to containing mesenchymal stem cells, umbilical cord tissue is a source of growth factors that also play an important role in regenerative medicine.

The option to donate umbilical cord tissue is offered to expecting mothers by participating hospitals.  Mothers who choose to donate undergo a screening and sign informed consent forms, indicating that, following birth, they consent to have their umbilical cord tissue stem cells used in medicine.  Umbilical cord tissue and blood extraction is conducted by a nurse immediately following delivery.  Tissue is processed in a GMP and GTP compliant laboratory.  BioGenix applies American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) regulatory standards to screen umbilical cord tissue for quality.  We partner with a sterile FDA-compliant laboratory.

[Good Tissue Practices (GTP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are the core FDA requirements for manufacturing products regulated as Human Cells, Tissues and Cellular and Tissue-Based Products (HCT/Ps) and cellular therapies.]
